Having issue with live view mode (S007)

I got S007 more than a month ago but just got lens Summicron 100mm/f2 to try with my camera today. I have the issue with live view mode as the following;

- When I shoot photos with shutter speed faster than 1/90, there is a straight line show up on my photo. (shutter speed 1/60 sometimes show as well)

- This line doesn't show on the photo I took with viewfinder.

- When I shoot continuously, only first photo has that line.

- When I shoot the photo without lens attached, there is no line.

I feel the presence of the line is correlate to the shutter sound. If the mirror move too slow, the line will show.

The photos can be found here;

Has anyone experienced this issue? I am wondering  whether this issue is from my camera or from lens ( because this is my first time for both and I don't have another lens to test). I bought camera from B&H but bought lens from eBay (second hand lens). What should I do to fix this

My lens firmware is updated today when I attached to my camera. It is now 134.47.9.0.

Thank you very much for all your input.

It looks like the sensor has a default and your camera will probabily need to go back to Wetzlar.

From my experience they will try to make a re-mapping of the sensor. If not satisfactory they will exchange it.

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't imagine another explanation than a defect that shows up when the sensor is stressed at higher iso/during live view  :(

It's been 72 hours since I sent email. I still haven't got any reply from B&H and Leica yet. I never thought that it would take this long.

I am wondering email s-system@leicacamerausa.com is the correct email to send to? Or there is other email to send to for any issue?

Thank you

Hi,

Same problem here. I've got my S007 for a week now and found out this morning that a thin red line crossing the whole sensor shows up from time to time (normal shooting mode, iso 3200 - 1600 - even on iso 400). I didn't engage Live view. Strangely it looks like this 'corrupetd' line is located at the same position on my sensor than on yours, but from the bottom of the sensor (those 2 crops are from dark areas but this line is also visible when more light reach it):

With the end of the year holidays approaching it's not a good period to send it back to Leica, could take weeeeeeks before getting my brand new system back

After been waiting for BH and Leica repair center for 4 days and no reply, I decided to send email to Leica agent (John.Kreidler@leicacamerausa.com). He replied to me quickly and assisted me very well. He asked me to upload DNG file and he will send to the technician to make a new firmware for me so I don't have to send the camera to Germany. I just uploaded photo today so will keep you updated if I get anything back.

Yep, I am having the same problem. In live view only, with the 100mm Summicron. Have just sent an email to Toni Felsner in Wetzlar.

ISO 1600

f4.0

1/250s

Camera firmware: 2.0.0.1

Lens firmware: 134.47.9.0

One of my images is here, but the same problem manifested itself in all images that I shot this evening:

I used the S007 for 3 hours at high iso during a shoot. Not a single issue with the sensor, this time...

Last time I was outside in the cold (only variable compared to my 3 hours shoot where I was inside).

Maybe the combo cold + high iso makes it appears, I don't know, go figure

I am very surprised that many people got this problem. I think it is their QC that need to be improved.

After 3 firmwares fix, now I don't have lines show in the photos. Still, there is a line show in the live screen when I am on liveview shooting mode.

I am still waiting for their technician to see if this can be fixed via firmware or not. I can live with this but it would be better if it is fixed.

This morning I used the S007 in live view mode and got the problem again.

However the 1st time I've got it (outside shoot at high iso) it was without using the live view at any time.

Hope the customer care will be able to react promptly and efficiently......

It turned out the line I mentioned on previous post was also shown in all the video I took. Finally the technician would like me to send my camera to Germany so they can fix that line.

I will send my camera after new year holidays as at least I still can take photos with this camera for my new year trip.

I've also received a 'personalized' firmware update today. It looks okay for now, I'll carefully check the next pictures to confirm.

I've asked the question to the Leica support on about what will happen when the next 'global S007' firmware update will be released.

What will happen to the bodies that received a special firmware ? will it be erased or keep correct the sensor defaults ?

Answer was:

The line issue is not a Firmware issue, it is mostly a hardware issue combined with firmware. A new firmware update doesn´t mean the lines will appear again. Even if they does, it will be solved the same way as now.

Not completely reassuring but still promising...
