microview Posted November 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Every time I delve into Lightroom catalogues I find I'm so much taken with my old M9 pics versus the M's (yes, I know, stale old topic…). But as I am averse to brassing and really don't like the ME's colour scheme I was absolutely delighted to find a black M9 in perfect condition at Richard Caplan's yesterday. I have it now and am feeling really pleased. Just one small thing: how much nicer the fonts in the menu compared with their M240 counterparts. And of course a saving of weight, much touted as a + feature of the new 262. Sensor problems? Who knows, but hopefully Leica will be able to fix for a year or so: 'several' according to the forum pundits. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest )-( Posted November 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2015 Good timing! Just bumped the very same 'stale old topic' Did you keep your M as well?
microview Posted November 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted November 27, 2015 Well, I will certainly keep for a while as I still don't want a Q and with the later macro attachment I'd be unable to use this on the M9. But then, I ponder, am I really interested in macro? (Unimpressed by closeup Q images I have seen so far.) I rather doubt that a 50mm Q will appear as some have suggested; I'd say 28mm was the decision for that model.
ThePioneer Posted November 30, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2015 I have made moves a couple of times to buy a new M. First an M240, which I returned, and just recently, the M262. But I enjoy my "old" M9 too much and, when push comes to shove, cannot let it go. I think I'll just keep buying it new Leica glass.
IWC Doppel Posted November 30, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 30, 2015 Still loving my M9-P, 24k under it's belt and it survived a little bit of wet this morning with a 21mm stuck on it :-)
BerndReini Posted November 30, 2015 Share #6 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) I love my trusty M9 as much as ever, but my MM1 has become my favorite. Edited November 30, 2015 by BerndReini
Duane Pandorf Posted December 1, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would love to add the MM1 to my M-E as there is one place I like to photograph and most of time process those photographs as B&W. The MM1 would give me a little bit more shutter options in the low light conditions that the M-E does.
DandA Posted December 2, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 2, 2015 Duane, They really make a wonderful pairing and not simply due to their use of a common battery and a few other accessories. Although the look of the M9/ME's CCD color output is favored by many of its users, the output of the CCD based monochrom has a different look compared to its CMOS based counterpart. More bite and a harder edge is quite evident and again its subjective and greatly depends on the look thr user favors. Dave (D&A)
colonel Posted December 2, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 2, 2015 There is little drawback to a well performing M9/M-E for the back to basics shooter. Even the shutter recock is wonderfully smoothly analogue, and I tend to use discrete mode The photos jump out of the page and I have no issue with ISO, particularly coming from film recently, using f1.4 lenses and the 640 trick rgds

Well, if you are used to Visoflex III - Bellows - Tele-Elmar 135 head, it is hard to be impressed by anything else.
