Lots of contrasts going on here: interior versus exterior; cold versus warm tones.

And how fortunate as well that the background figure is in tonal harmony with the exterior part of the photo.

One element that would stunningly improve this photo would be a figure in the interior, rushing up, or better yet down the stairs.

A 1/60 or 1/30 shutter would give good blur on a rapidly moving person.

And if that person were clad in dark warm tones ...

But this is beautifully observed and executed as is.

One might have to wait all day for just the right juxtaposition of interior and exterior figures.
