How to prevent Mac photo app from popping up

I agree...

It used to be SO different from Microsoft, really intuitive and lovely to use. It's now looking more and more like it... as Microsoft tries to get more and more like Apple.

It seems it's becoming more and more ponderous and seems to be catering to the lowest common denominator.

The downside of Apple becoming more mainstream I'm afraid... I liked it when it was cool and different... Or should that be 'indifferent'... No pandering to the masses and absolutely a joy to use.

Bill,

thanks for that - it was really pissing me off!

Toby,

I agree with the visual candy-coloured toy-like  appearance of the newer Mac OS

I am not game to upgrade to El Capitan as almost everything is currently working and on my MacPro I have no complaints with processing speed (see below)

  and

I was very happy with Adobe CC until about two months ago when I could no longer update any programs. The updates would just stop before it completed. I gave Adobe technicians access to my computer twice and sat around for for waiting hours but they still couldn't fix it. I planed to try again with the next OS upgrade (see above)

 ...Catch 22

I had real problems like this with Adobe updating, particularly updating the CC app itself. I got round it by updating in Safe Mode and logged in as Administrator. Ludicrous, I know, but it worked. The problem went away when I upgraded to Windows 10.

Not sure if you have an equivalent option in OS.

Apple keeps messing with the OS which was quite professional.  It now has all kinds of features that turn it into a toy for amateurs and make it difficult to use.

I love my Mac Pro with 4 drives and Eiso screen.   I would buy the new pro because it is really cool,  but it will not even burn a CD,  I can not add memory,  and I am sure it can not be repaired cost effectively.  A $4000 throw away computer.  GIME a break.
