Looks like another thread to keep my eye on as far as photos are concerned (along with the Q image thread).

I am very impressed with the first few images from the SL.

How much work are you all doing on them in PP?

I am hoping you will all answer 'quite a lot'... otherwise I can see a strong case of GAS coming on!

Almost no PP at all. M9 and M240 need - in general - much more post-massaging than the SL images. Sometimes the colours are too poppy for my liking, but that can be mediated, of course. Quite some info can be lifted from the deep shadows, which is a neat option to have. High iso is quite good. All of the above is based on less than 24 hr of shooting, so view this as first impressions.

On the hard ware side, the viewfinder is nothing but outstanding, the shutter is smooth, quick and silent. I don't have full control of the exposure options and exposure adjustments yet, but that will come. The joystick works well, but I see that I tend to put the position of the spot metering around, so I need to improve in that one. The body feels solid indeed and it's comfortable to hand-held. I keep the body in the right hand as with the M-bodies (using a wrist strap). No problem.

I did a bit ..... reds with the embedded profile are not right ...... the latest LR adobe standard profile I downloaded today corrects this ...... seems to reduce saturation generally a bit and skin tones are now excellent.....

Thanks - just downloaded LR2015.3 - with improved colours. An example of the changes to red, see the umbrella image below (with Adobe profile) compared to the embedded profile shown one page back (post #38).

This afternoon I fitted the Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm to the SL and went for a walk ...

all: Leica SL + Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8

All of these were rendered in Lr 6.3 from the DNG files with very few adjustments.

I like how the SL works with Leica R lenses: it feels balanced and comfortable in the hand.

enjoy!

Thank you for your pics! Which adaptater do you use? Which aperture?

Is that a ROM version or a Single coated version?

Best regards.

Thank you. I'm using the M Adapter T, stacked with R Adapter M so that I have access to the R lens codes. (Of course, I made a mistake when I was shooting these and accidentally had the Summilux-R 50mm chosen instead of the Elmarit-R 60mm... doh!)

This Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm is a three-cam model from about 1983. I don't know what coatings it has; all I can say is that it is nothing short of a spectacular performer.

Depending upon the photo, I used aperture settings from f/8 to wide open as well as some plus and minus EV compensation, depending upon the subject matter and the light.
