HDR?

Love Burg Eltz, but not sure how you've managed to shoot into the sun, retain the detail and subtlety of colours in the sky, and recover the shadows ...

I bracketed the shots and spent a decent amount of time on post processing - the sky got its share of time, the castle got ample attention and the foliage had its share too.

I didn't do almost any processing on the road

I waited for almost 15 minutes for the little red bus to leave, it didn't so I shot the picture with it anyway

I love the ability to adjust settings and visualize the end result before taking the picture

Some friends took me for a little ride with my SL kit.  One thing I did learn is that it is not great for your stomach to be looking through the camera view finder when a helicopter makes a radical swing through the air!  The SL and 24-90 did wonderfully.  I also had the 90-280 but it was actually too much for the types of shooting I was doing and it was too big to manipulate in the cabin crowded with lines and equipment so I went back to the SL 24-90; especially as I was strapped down tight in a 4 point harness.

Thanks,

Mark

Fascinating how crowded it gets with modern "warfighter" gear.  Those look like ejection seats, but which way do you eject from a helo?

The Show.  A Llama show at Michigan State University.  There was judging in a dozen different categories.  Beautiful, gentle animals.

From my office window, dawn, Saturday morning:

Leica SL + Elmar-R 180mm f/4
ISO 6400 @ f/4 @ 1/400

I'd been feeling pretty crummy for a few days, minor fever and achey joints all over, poor sleep. I woke Saturday morning about an hour before dawn and couldn't bring myself to go for a walk, basically just moped around at my desk. Then a flash of light caught my eye and I saw colors through the blinds. I quick grabbed the 180/4 and the SL, opened the blinds, opened the window ... dang, fly screens, no time to remove them. Wot the 'ell, cranked up the ISO to 6400, focused on the telephone poles, and made four exposures, slightly different each of them.

The above is the result. Oh yes, it's a crop to about 1/4 of the full frame (3000 x 4000 or something like that in the original). Wish I'd had the time to pull out the 250 and the 2x doubler... Oh well.

I think it's most impressive when you see the full resolution: full rez: September Sunrise

The SL performs to my satisfaction.

enjoy!

A table top - a shell of an abalone with a big pearl (glass, I know, abalones do not produce pearls) - SL and 24/90.
