Leica DIII

Recommended Posts

Hello Gregg,

Welcome to the Forum.

Do you have a photo?

It is even better if there is more than 1 perspective.

There is sometimes some degree of confusion when identifying Barnack Leicas from their Numbers or Letters alone since different systems were sometimes used in different parts of the World at various times.

Best Regards,

Michael

Hello Again Gregg,

To follow up:

As an example of potential confusion:

There is a Model II. Sometimes identified as "D".

There is also a Model IIId.

Please note: One of them is a Capital "D". The other is a lower case "d".

There are varieties of IIIf's that are sometimes mis-identified as IIId's.

And so on.

Along with asking questions here (Always a good idea.) there is a WIKI at the top of this page with some photos, serial numbers, etc. to help with research.

Best Regards,

Michael

From a quick sight  this looks to be a Leica III, known also as "model F", from 1933 : most of them are chrome, but black items as this one are not uncommon. If never repainted (difficult to judge from the pics) it is in a very good cosmetic condition.
