jankap Posted November 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought the head of an Elmar 135mm f/4. Also the ring 16472k, an OTZFO and the adapter 14167. With my crop camera this gives a 200mm lens with the possibility of using my APO extender 2x. This worked fine, I was on Safari with Benny Rebel. Except that the combination focusses beyond infinity. The ring 16472k is about 1mm too thin (axial direction). The ring is of one piece of metal, no manipulating possible. But the OTZFO shows on the lens side 2 screws. Does somebody know, what purpose these screws have? Is it possible, that herewith the OTZFO can be made thicker (axially)? The other possibility would be to shim the combination. Does somebody know, how I can do that? Thanks, Jan
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Hi jankap, Take a look here Elmar 135mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted November 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2015 Personally I wouldn't be particularily concerned about lenses focusing slightly beyond the infinity stop, although it might be inconvenient for some grab shots, you still need to manually focus anyway. That said, I occasionally have made temporary very thin shims for some combinations, usually using heavy duty aluminum foil cut out with a hobby knife.
otto.f Posted November 13, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Not quite sure but the OTZFO serves the 65 Elmar too in my memory. Could be the head of some 90 too Edited November 13, 2015 by otto.f
luigi bertolotti Posted November 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Not quite sure but the OTZFO serves the 65 Elmar too in my memory. Could be the head of some 90 too Yes (Elmarit 90 f 2,8) : having to serve different lensheads, no strange it has some tolerancing on infinity.... happens to other "multipurpose" accessories too (for example, my 280 lenshead on Televit goes a bit over infinity). Like these hippos. At night feeding bio food (grass) and during the day digesting and bathing. It is of great help if one knows, that at one end there is the fix point infinity. I´ll look, how I can shim the lens. jc_braconi Posted November 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2015 When I need shims I use empty cans (Coke or Beer or what you like to drink) There are easy to cut with scissors after drawing with a compass
