amethyst Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The camera has not been used for a long time. It's number 2997***. It was bought secondhand in around 2006. The sensor may have been replaced - not sure about this. The problem has always been with the manual focus. Everything beyond about 10 feet (3 metres approx) is slightly out of focus irrespective of the aperture setting. Can anyone shed light (sorry) on this? Perhaps it's my eyesight Thanks, John

pop Posted November 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 1, 2015 How do you focus?
amethyst Posted November 2, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) How do you focus? Thanks for the reply. I set manual focus, turn the ring to the infinity symbol, and then attempt to bring the image into focus with the viewfinder. This is difficult with specs and even more difficult without. I can tell from your reply, there's a better way. John Edited November 2, 2015 by amethyst
pop Posted November 2, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 2, 2015 The resolution of its EVF being what it is, I usually turn the MF Assist on when I choose to use focus manually; there are two "levels", named "MF Assist 1" and "MF Assist 2", respectively. I don't know any more what each one does, but it should become readily apparent. Focusing with the MF assist works quite well for me, even with rather little light. stuny Posted November 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2015 With manual focus always zoom in fist, focus, zoom out to frame.
amethyst Posted November 3, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted November 3, 2015 Thanks, pop and stuny. I'll give those suggestions a try. I'd completely overlooked MF Assist. Well I never! John
