justinrphillips Posted October 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am not sure if this is an ok topic here but I am looking for a used M9 "beater" camera meaning I am not looking for a mint M9, I would take one actually used. Just curious as I learn more and more about this great world of Lecia.
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Hi justinrphillips, Take a look here Good source for used Leica M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leica Fanatic Posted October 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) There's no actual place that specifically sells 'beater' Leicas. Most dealers will occasionally have examples of various models that have had a more 'interesting' life and subsequenty cheaper. Keep your eyes open on the auction sites (be careful) and keep checking the stock of the countless dealers and secondhand sites on the interweb. I have my eye on one now, I just was not sure if there was a great single source for used Leica's (beyond what google showed readily) But it sounds like the daily visits to every photo site I know is the proper process and I think I found one pretty close to my budget. Will keep watching.
asiafish Posted October 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 15, 2015 If you are in the USA contact Leica Store San Francisco, they sell a lot of used gear in various states of cosmetic condition. I purchased a well-used 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit and a Leica IIIg from them at excellent prices.
justinrphillips Posted October 15, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks for the hint on the Leica Store, they have some nice stuff! I am going to be in Miami next week too so I will for sure check out the store there as well. I hope to actually have my M9 by then but I am also a current owner of an M Monochrom. justinrphillips Posted October 19, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted October 19, 2015 I ended up finding an M9 through Adorama what was in my price range.
Schrödinger's cat Posted October 21, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a personal observation here, but the number of people who have been disappointed with their M9 is pretty darn low. I think you're going to have fun. On the other hand, it's kinda like falling down the rabbit hole wanting additional lenses. justinrphillips Posted October 22, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted October 22, 2015 Yes I have to settle for a full set of Voigtlanders for my MM and M9 for now but think I will move up to used CZ's or users Leica's depending on funds
