Problems with redeeming Leica license for Lightroom 6

Having recently bought a Monochrom I decided to upgrade my Lightroom 5 to 6. I registered the Monochrom, used the TAN Number, then got an email with the Code. Signed into my Adobe account and entered the Code, no problem. Started to download Lightroom 6 but about 3/4 way through I got a Pop-Up screen to say I would be updated to Creative Cloud. I have a stand alone version of Photoshop CS5 and really don't want to go to Creative Cloud and the monthly charge.

 

Would appreciate any advise on this.

 

Sorry if I have missed similar posts on this subject but I couldn't find anything using the search function.

I didn't have a code when I upgraded from LR 5 to 6, but I did notice that Adobe made it very difficult to find the standalone version on their site.  My cynical view is that this was intentional to get folks to migrate to the cloud.

 

I eventually found the link, but decided that the easiest and cleanest path was to call Adobe customer service and have the rep email me a download.

Yes, it's Adobe being sneaky, as Jeff says you need to discover the stand alone version on Adobe's web site, it's a large cup of coffee and three biscuit job.

Thanks for the advise. I entirely agree with both of you, I nearly ended up signing into Creative Cloud without realising it and if I had I wouldn't have been able to go back to stand alone modules. That would have cost me over £45 a month, which having bought both Lightroom and Photoshop for substantial sums, I wouldn't have been happy about.

I now recall that it was even more devious.....once I found the standalone version, Adobe made it hard to find the discounted 'upgrade' version as opposed to the much pricier full purchase.   Some stores like B&H (I was going to buy an upgrade there) were not even aware of the upgrade version and were only authorized to sell the standalone LR6 as new, at the full price.
