Hey guys,

So my first lens finally arrived (50mm NOKTON f1.1) and the problems have begun with my M8.

After taking a few first photos I have begun to notice 2 major dead pixels, 1 blue and 1 green (attached photo).

I have been looking around on the forums and have it seems that the only real solution is sending it off to Leica for a CCD correction or total replacement.

Now I live in Australia and am unsure where I should send it for it to be the cheapest? Back to the Fatherland or off to somewhere close like Tokyo or Kyoto.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks a heap guys.

Aaah! Such bad luck Daedra; you've waited so long to get an M8 too....

Was it pico, or menos (??) suggested....

Take off lens and shoot 3  exposures at 30 seconds each....pointing the camera to a light source...I guess a tungsten or fluorescent bulb.....said to cure some pixel and line problems .....

try, and let us know...

cheers Dave S

I've just looked at your shot, and personally, I'd forget it, just use the camera. YES, you can see them, and now you have seen them you'll always see them, but heck, on 99% of your everyday shots I'd suspect you may not.

Plus fixing it is a simple click with the clone tool. I often have to with pixels like this on astro shots. MANY more of them than the two you have.

I'd be waiting for something major to rear it's head (touch wood it doesn't) before I spent the sort of money you will likely spend. If and when that happens, get these two pesky spots sorted at the same time.

Agreed though, Camera Clinic is excellent, I had my X1 flash fixed by them, awesome service.
