johnbuckley Posted September 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Six years ago today, in New York City, the M9 was announced. Earlier in September, if memory serves, the teaser invitation arrived with 09/09/09 set as the announcement date of what logic suggested would be the M9, a full-frame successor to the M8. The camera itself started arriving two weeks later, a miracle given the M8, announced in September 2006, didn't materialize until early November of that year. We have a thread here that has 40+ pages of speculation about what is coming, but what do we really *know* is coming? There is a belief, borne of pattern recognition, that a new M will be announced soon, though there has been no teaser invitation to an event. We also *believe* a new system camera is coming, magically combining a Q-like EVF with the ability to take both AF lenses and... Well, we don't really know. Jono seems to be missing -- another teaser -- and Sean Reid has several times lately hinted to subscribers that he is testing more than one "very interesting" new camera. Something will be announced in future weeks, but what, actually? Since we are all speculating, and champing at the bit to see what's coming, how about a thread in which we succinctly commit, for future comparison to what gets announced, our actual predictions for what will be announced this fall? Here's mine: there will be a new M announced, and it will be an evolutionary upgrade from the M-240, without a hybrid finder. The new system camera speculated upon will, like the Loch Ness Monster, recede from view until another season. Go ahead and submit your prediction, and later we will see who's closest. wattsy Posted September 9, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2015 Go ahead and submit your prediction, and later we will see who's closest. I think there will be a black paint version of the M-A announced. Oh, and I also think there will be a new interchangeable AF camera that is compatible with existing M mount lenses but I am more interested in the former. kkonkkrete Posted September 9, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2015 On this day, when (many) Brits celebrate the longest reign of any Monarch on their fair isle, let us also remember that she was also an avid Leica user. Perhaps lurking on this very thread Sorry for the the OT...

chathaway Posted September 9, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) Dear Lord, please forgive my heresy and make my death swift! 30-40 something MP, EVF, and of course corrected for Leica glass. I'm thinking that the smart money is chasing Sony a bit...no, not the stake...please not the stake! Peter Kilmister Posted September 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2015 Never mind the stake, I prefer a steak ... rare. Slurp! Anyway, no heresy if you own a Leica. If all you own is a Sony then what are you doing here? This is a Leica forum.
dot-me-not Posted September 10, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 10, 2015 M X, uni-body construction, 40mp, EVF/OVF, supporting auto-focus lenses, and very austere in appearance (no screen and fewer buttons).
Alan Aurmont Posted September 10, 2015 Share #11 Posted September 10, 2015 My prediction: Leica M11 with Canon's 250MP sensor, ISO up to 409,600, 4K video recording, over 16 EV of dynamic range, continuous shooting at up to 6 fps.

rramesh Posted September 12, 2015 Share #13 Posted September 12, 2015 What I do know is that 6 years later, the M9 is an awesome camera and that Leica will still honour a free sensor replacement. What I don't know is what comes later this year.
