I love it (except for the not-Art-Deco background), and didn't know it : Where in Uccle? Namur-born, I lived 23 years in Brussels before emigrating to Dion Valmont and finally ending my life in Portugal since 1993.

Yes the background is a bit disturbing and surprising. Even though the owners were probably very rich, they chose to build their house attached to that ugly grey building in the background. The garden is huge though with a surface of +1 ha.

Indeed, the Van Buuren were extremely rich! And I now understand the background : when the Van Buuren built their villa in 1924, Uccle was a small village near Brussels. It must be thanks to the modern politicians of this now district of Brussels, that we may enjoy this "contrasting" background...
