dkCambridgeshire Posted September 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica Shop Vienna (part owned by Leica Camera AG) this morning are listing a Leitz 800mm Telyt S priced €4500 in their latest stock … . Seems €€ reasonable considering only 109 examples were manufactured but lens module has an edge chip. http://www.leicashop.com/vintage_en/leica-telyt-s-6-3-800-sku25874-1.html dunk Edited September 4, 2015 by dkCambridgeshire
Advertisement Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Hi dkCambridgeshire, Take a look here Leitz Telyt-S 800 mm f6.3 listed by Leica Shop Vienna today. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lleo Posted September 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) Hello dunk. I didn't know that Leica Shop was partially owned by Leica. But thinking to the fact they're probably the only shop, beside the officials, using the brand name, I could have had that thought. luigi bertolotti Posted September 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) L bet it will be sold rather quickly... it's a true rarity and an excellent performer too, though any time I use mine (3 or 4 times a year) it's always a complicate cerimonial to perform, and a terrible weight (lens + tripod(s) to carry around... Agreed … have to use a trolley with mine … not just for the lens but to transport the two tripods and gimbal head. dunk
Orient XI Posted September 6, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 6, 2015 Please note that the item offered is in R fitting!
luigi bertolotti Posted September 6, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) It was officially listed and mainly made (relatively speaking...)in R Mount : Visoflex Mount was availble on special order (just seen one in my life, apart my "lab made" Viso Mount) and, in theory, also a Minolta Mount was available (never seen); anyway, adapting it to a M240 needs simply a ring, which accounts for 1/100th around of the total weight... zeitz Posted September 6, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Luigi, I've seen two Visoflex mount 800mm Telyts. One was in the Westlicht Auction some years ago. One was listed on e-mail by Breguet Camera in 2013. I should have checked the serial numbers to see if they were the same lens. luigi bertolotti Posted September 6, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 6, 2015 Thanks Zeitz... the Westlicht you quote is the one I referred to... iirc, it was before 2013... I missed the Breguet item, but seems strange to me they re.offered an item sold not so much time before.. : do you remember if the Breguet item ad BOTH the mounts ? I seem to remember it was so for the Westlicht one..

I agree but always a great moment ...
zeitz Posted September 8, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 8, 2015 Luigi, the Breguet lens only had a Visoflex mount.
luigi bertolotti Posted September 8, 2015 Share #11 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Luigi, the Breguet lens only had a Visoflex mount. Indeed also the Westlicht one was like this (I did remember wrong in my previous post) : any way they were two different items, though with near numbers: after some search, I found the Breguet ad (on a Chinese-written page...) of 2013 : Telyt S with s/n 2.500.842 , Visoflex mount, case, complete with a Viso III (*) ; Westlicht item (2009) was 2.500.827 (*) small tricky detail : the ad shows a picture of the case, with all the components inside, including the Viso III, inserted into the rigid foam, apparently in a receptacle for it (any component has its own) : in my (and other) items, that "additional" receptacle is present, but shaped to accomodate a camera body (a Leica R or SL, supposedly - you can find pictures that illustrate this setup) : is funny that , apparently, for the few - special order Viso versions, they "machined" in accord also the foam of the case... zeitz Posted September 9, 2015 Share #12 Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks for digging out the serial numbers, Luigi. I often record serial numbers for the rarest lenses; I don't know why I didn't do it for these two lenses. I did notice that the slot in the case for its Visoflex. dkCambridgeshire Posted October 23, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted October 23, 2015 Assuming it's the same lens with the chipped front element, it's now listed in the forthcoming WestLicht Auction: http://www.westlicht-auction.com/index.php?id=70&L=1&utm_source=Leicashop+%26+WestLicht+Auction&utm_campaign=5a47506b7d-WestLicht+Auktionen+Juni+2015+Kataloge+online&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e1a5b303fa-5a47506b7d-45715289 dunk
