TRIago Posted October 6, 2015 Share #62 Posted October 6, 2015 Hello, Could you tell me how long it takes the replacement please? And what did you have to pay for? I will appreciate your answers. Hey. It took around 2 months and a half. I paid nothing for it, because my M9 was detected w/ corrosion. Cheers.

AB007 Posted October 7, 2015 Share #64 Posted October 7, 2015 Hello list! I am in US, I tried to email Leica a few times, they are either not response or 1 response saying that they are supporting software only (?) Are they that busy or I sent to a wrong department or region? Can somebody provide a correct contact for this particular problem so I can try again? Thanks and have a nice day everyone! Regards Sonny Hi Sonny, Please contact Leica NJ. The contact details are listed below. My M9 is with Leica NJ waiting for sensor replacement. tappan Posted October 7, 2015 Share #65 Posted October 7, 2015 So far, I have waited 3 months and a few days. I sent my M9-P in for sensor replacement July 3. Ughhhh. Mark
AB007 Posted October 10, 2015 Share #66 Posted October 10, 2015 I spoke to Leica NJ yesterday regarding my M9 sensor replacement. Most likely I might get my M9 back by the end of Oct. They had initially given me a tentative date of Sep 10.
asiafish Posted October 10, 2015 Share #67 Posted October 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M-E got the old sensor last month, but looks perfect so no complaints. My M Monochrom is still in NJ, hope to get it back soon.
pico Posted October 10, 2015 Share #68 Posted October 10, 2015 I am taking an entirely different approach. Defects in my sensor are unique and therefore proof that the images came from my camera. Besides several spots are not doomsday.
MarkN Posted October 11, 2015 Share #69 Posted October 11, 2015 Do they clean/service the cameras when they are changing the sensor?
jaapv Posted October 13, 2015 Share #70 Posted October 13, 2015 Yes, they get adjusted and dusted off. In fact, Leica has to take most of the camera apart to replace the sensor.
Cedric Leica Posted October 15, 2015 Share #71 Posted October 15, 2015 The corrodible sensor was the Kodak KAF-18500. What is the new sensor? Anyone knows its designation name & manufacturer?
elmars Posted October 15, 2015 Share #72 Posted October 15, 2015 It is zhe same sensor, only the glass is new.
asiafish Posted October 15, 2015 Share #73 Posted October 15, 2015 Do they clean/service the cameras when they are changing the sensor? Yes. My M-E was only seven-weeks-old when I sent it in, and when it came back it had new leatherette (nothing wrong with the old) and everything was cleaned and calibrated according to the receipt.
sblutter Posted October 21, 2015 Share #74 Posted October 21, 2015 Just got my M-E back - looks good, new leather too Firmware now 1.204. Also for the heck of it I asked them to change the LCD glass cover to sapphire and charge me. Of course they didn't do that but threw in a pack of 2 German very nice hard display protector that fit perfectly - ordered some back-ups: http://www.amazon.com/Vikuiti-Screen-Protector-adhesiveness-scratch-resistant/dp/B009L489CW Settings were back to factory - no big, very glad to have it back, was 11 weeks. I sent it in before replacements were even available.

sblutter Posted October 22, 2015 Share #76 Posted October 22, 2015 Since I don't have the old leather to compare it to I can't be sure - but it looks and feels good. It still has the leathery grain - a little smoother than on my M9 Its very handsome - I love the M-E color scheme
tappan Posted October 27, 2015 Share #77 Posted October 27, 2015 I turned my camera in July 3rd, I am still without my M9-P. Though the people of Leica USA-NJ have been very nice, my wait has been a long one. They are awaiting more shipments of sensors from Germany. jaapv Posted November 2, 2015 Share #78 Posted November 2, 2015 Yes. My M-E was only seven-weeks-old when I sent it in, and when it came back it had new leatherette (nothing wrong with the old) and everything was cleaned and calibrated according to the receipt. The leatherette has to be removed to open up the camera and cannot be reused. So any operation involving on internal components is an automatic cover replacement. Ted Lemon Posted November 3, 2015 Share #79 Posted November 3, 2015 Has anyone been offered a costed upgrade to an M240/246 as an alternative to the new sensor replacement? Or has this aspect of the corrosion issue solution been taken off the table?
Jim-St Posted November 4, 2015 Share #80 Posted November 4, 2015 Has anyone been offered a costed upgrade to an M240/246 as an alternative to the new sensor replacement? Or has this aspect of the corrosion issue solution been taken off the table? My M9 went off to Leica Germany last week. I was asked to complete a pdf form stating whether I wanted repair or replacement with M240, M-P240 or MM246. Prices were upwards from €3300 for upgrades so I went for repair. When the label came through from DHL to attach to the parcel, I noted it was addressed f.a.o. Herr Mandler at Wetzlar! I actually came to this thread to see if anyone could say what the turnaround time is at Leica Park, but it seems mostly to cover experiences from Leica NJ Anyone now how long Wetzlar is taking with these at present?
