Advertisement Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi leffe, Take a look here How long until new firmware?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted August 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2015 Assuming there will be an update, past performance would suggest that the time taken from first launch of camera is highly variable and unpredictable.
viramati Posted August 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 25, 2015 I heard today that something maybe on the way but when who knows
barjohn Posted August 26, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 26, 2015 I have had one hangup when the camera was going into sleep mose, it hung with the Leica logo and only removing the battery resolved the issue. Luckily only once so far. It does suggest that there are probably some bugs to be stomped out.
Guytou Posted August 26, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2015 Leica is not very fast for the firmwares... I think that it is necessary to envisage approximately one year after the release of the device for a first update. Guy
AlanJW Posted August 26, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 26, 2015 How long is a string? You can answer that as easily as when Leica will release a firmware update.

I think that it is necessary to envisage approximately one year after the release of the device for a first update. Guy I should imagine it will be more a question of months as there are one or two minor bugs that will need to be addressed. Whether or not a firmware is released that makes any operational changes who knows
Guytou Posted August 26, 2015 Share #8 Posted August 26, 2015 The X Vario appeared in June 2013 and the first update arrived at autumn 2014 ! For small bugs... Guy
iTiki Posted August 26, 2015 Share #9 Posted August 26, 2015 Since the Q is not readily available for purchase, I'm holding out in hope they do a firmware upgrade to allow at least 5 exposure bracketing and exposures longer than 30 seconds. Others have pointed out there are workarounds, but that doesn't work for me. Those are both pretty common features on most cameras so I'm surprised they were not included to begin with. These would be among the least likely changes brought by a hypothetical future firmware update.

You are probably right, but nothing wrong with hoping while I wait for supply to catch up with demand. I'm not the only one asking and hoping these features might be added. jbl Posted August 27, 2015 Share #12 Posted August 27, 2015 My hope is they improve the options with the EVF/LCD. The delay with the eye sensor is very noticeable and what I really want is configuration and review on the LCD, everything else in the EVF. Next up would be a bit more options on how auto ISO and shutter speed are handled (I doubt I'll get that). There are a few others on my wish list, but I assume we'll only see the screen thing addressed.
barjohn Posted August 27, 2015 Share #13 Posted August 27, 2015 In case you haven't noticed this, in the menu under "Display Settings," you can select "Auto - high sense" or "Auto - Low Sense" If you select the Low Sense setting, there is a delay before the switch takes place. If you select the "High Sense setting it switches very fast and it is merely a blink. Check your settings. I know at first, I switched my setting to Low to avoid having the LCD switch to EVF when my hand was close to the viewfinder then forgot about it. Later I kept noticing the lag overtime I raised the camera to shoot. Then I discovered that changing this setting to High resulted in fast switching so that is where I leave it.

I had wondered what the high-vs.-low sensitivity meant, but I've always had it set to "high sensitivity" and there's still this half second delay when it comes to my eye. It's minor, I know, but I become conscious of it every time I bring the camera to my eye. -jbl

I am guessing firmware will come after the mystery camera is released.

sls Posted August 29, 2015 Share #18 Posted August 29, 2015 I've had a few freezes. Maybe 3 or 4 in total. Had one today. Now just in the habit of flicking open the battery compartment, battery out, in, close, all sorted in a couple of seconds.
viramati Posted August 29, 2015 Share #19 Posted August 29, 2015 Another wish not likely to be granted. Why do you say that. Is there some technical reason why it couldn't happen?
barjohn Posted August 29, 2015 Share #20 Posted August 29, 2015 He probably said that because it is a request that users have had since the X1 and Leica has ignored that request so far. One possible explanation is that Leica uses the JPG for the review function and if it didn't store it on the SD card, it would have to store it in buffer memory or recreate it each time which would slow the camera down, so they write it to the SD card. Just a guess...
