New Leica x-u typ113

Mine would be for an update of the X1 while retaining the the same form factor and size. Just replace the flash with an EVF like the Q. If that requires retention of the excellent Elmarit lens, I could live with that.

Just curious, if the new X-U is as described in the above post, why would LEICA have even bothered to come out with the Q?  Why not just develop a suitable 28 mm. to mate with the X-U?

The nice thing about Leica’s naming scheme is that you can guess what a camera will be like if you just have a name to go on. An X-U (Typ 113) can only be a minor variant of the X (Typ 113). Which implies that it is neither a full-frame nor a system camera. The only remaining question is what ‘U’ signifies.

You may be correct, but that is contrary to the article referred to above in THENEWCAMERA.com

They are creating a mash-up of unrelated info. There is a rumour about a new mirrorless system from Leica and there is the fact that Leica has registered a new camera called ‘X-U (Typ 113)’, but nothing to suggest that both news were in any way related.

U for Unobtainable -- so far. An X body with interchangeable lenses would be very handy but who knows? Unlikely? Unless a celebrity is testing it already and it has a code name. Ursula? Can we expect a leaked picture soon? Undercover camera?
