Maurice van Cleef Posted August 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear forum members, Recently i ran into 50 rolls of superia 800, but i want to develop them as B/W. Does anyone have real experience with developping this film? Whem searching the net I'd found some questions on this subject-but no real answers.... I would also like to know how you would rate this film, what developper and what times/temperatures you've used. Thanks in advance! Advertisement Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Hi Maurice van Cleef, Take a look here Fuji Superia X-tra 800 in b/w developper???. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Doc Henry Posted August 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2015 Maurice , it's possibleI did once with Kodak Portra and also some contributors on the forum "Other" "I like film" , look at their photos. For Fuji 800 expect to have beautiful grains Development is done as recommended by the manufacturer of the developer. In color , you need 3mn25 at 38°C Tetenal In b&w I tried 3mn30 20°C in Ilford HC Best Henry http://www.mraggett.co.uk/C41processing/index.htm https://jcstreetwolf.wordpress.com/2014/08/26/developing-color-film-in-black-and-white-developer/ http://darkshape.blogspot.fr/2011/12/49-guide-to-developing-c-41-films-in-b.html

chrism Posted August 21, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) I accidentally developed a roll of Ektar 100 in TMax developer (2 tanks, two films - one colour and one B&W, in the same changing bag. You can guess what happened.) The negative was dark, but the scanner coped: Bicycle by chrism229, on Flickr Now I routinely develop XP2 in Rodinal (1:100, semi-stand for an hour), but I have never tried Superia 800 this way. No reason it can't be done, but you might need to experiment with times. Edited August 21, 2015 by chrism
Maurice van Cleef Posted August 22, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted August 22, 2015 I'll give it a try and will post the results over here! (and otherwise there is the Fuji C-41 kit....)
250swb Posted August 22, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 22, 2015 I'll give it a try and will post the results over here! (and otherwise there is the Fuji C-41 kit....) With the simplicity of working with a Tetenal C41 kit (others are available), which is just as easy as B&W processing and no special equipment, I would have thought it logical to process it as colour film and then have the option of converting to B&W later?
