LR6 update 6.1.1 now included the Q

Just updated LR6 with the latest update 6.1.1 and Raw Camera 9.1.1 as this now includes profile for the Leica Q.  Under 'Camera Calibration' I now have two options for the Profile i.e. 'Embedded' and 'Adobe Standard'.  (Only had embedded prior to the update).  The only difference I can see is that the Adobe Standard makes some of the colours, especially reds, a bit more subdued.

Does anyone know what these actually do and which one should be used for the Q.

The Adobe Standard is much closer to the 'real' colours - particularly greens and reds. Use it.

Plenty of threads here about LR colour calibration (for the M series) and various LR tutorial videos etc.

All RAW developers have the option of using different colour profiles for different cameras to suit your needs and liking.

It's the digital equivalent of the colour filtration you would dial in when printing colour images on an enlarger .... depends on the the paper used and the developer etc etc ...... and is the whole point of using RAW/DNG as against jpg images .....

I find the Adobe standard to be a more accurate and neutral, reds and greens are especially better. I have set the jpeg setting on the camera to saturation 'medium low' and contrast to 'low' as I find this means that what I see in the EVF is a lot closer to the DNG file when imported. this doesn't effect the DNG files just the jpeg's which I throw away anyway

  • 3 weeks later...

I am a proud owner of a LEICA Q for 4 weeks now and love that camera .

I am using LR 6.1 on my MAC PRO and would like to install LR 6.1 also on my MAC BOOK PRO .

Can I install LR 6.1 on two computers ?

I have searched the LEICA forum to find an answer as well as the user manual . No answer so far .

Does anyone have the answer or can point out where to find the answer ?

Thank you .
