tobey bilek Posted February 28, 2016 Share #21 Posted February 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Vulcanite is rubber thermoset to a camera body. Has been gone for decades and reproducing the process would be absurdly expensive. Process is similar to recapping tires. We are stuck with plastic backed with adhesive. Remember rubber deteriorates with time and "flakes off". Replacing with original product is not possible. And the cover needs to be removed/replaced for common service. Advertisement Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi tobey bilek, Take a look here MP a la carte with Vulkanit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peng Kang Hill Posted February 28, 2016 Share #22 Posted February 28, 2016 My apologies. Here's a quick iPhone snap. Very happy with the MP and so pleased I went for the Vulkanit option. It really is the most grippy covering I have experienced on a Leica. That's indeed a very good looking MP. I'm sure you're very happy with it [emoji3]
Denys Posted March 5, 2016 Share #23 Posted March 5, 2016 Hi Maximus, I did an alacarte earlier this year. Didn't take any of the coverings offered in the program but instead asked for the black covering that comes in today's M-P. See pic. Hi Peng - a little off-topic, but that's the first time I've seen a wrist strap attached to the side of the camera away from the shutter release. Any reason you use it this way? Apologies if it's more common than I think and I've just not being paying attention!

It might be worthwhile checking with these folks anyway. They are taking orders again this month.

Any reason you use it this way? Apologies if it's more common than I think and I've just not being paying attention! Hi Denys, You're not the first one to ask me this [emoji3]. I walk with my camera in my left hand. I feel more natural this way. I guess it's just me.
