drives Posted August 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Everyone! I've had a stain on my lens hood since I purchased my Q and it won't rub off. Looks like oil but I'm not sure. I'm pretty meticulous with everything I own so I know it wasn't due to improper handling. Can anyone recommend any cleaning techniques? If not, should I contact Leica for a replacement? If so, what's the best contact email for them? I know this may not be a problem for most people, but I figured I'd ask you all. Thanks in advance! Iduna Posted August 4, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 4, 2015 Is there really some stuff on the surface of the hood or is it in the material itself? From the picture one can also gather it might be in the material. Cool strap it is!

Does anyone have a contact at Leica that can address this issue?
drives Posted August 4, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted August 4, 2015 Glad you all like the strap! I was kinda iffy about the color. Here are some more pics of it-
ricky1981 Posted August 5, 2015 Share #9 Posted August 5, 2015 I very nearly went for that strap, I think it looks awesome but was worried it might attract too much attention. I'm not concerned about it being stolen, more about being able to snap away without people noticing (not because I am a stalker but because I prefer candid shots). I've opted to go all black instead but looking at your photos, I am slightly regretting it!

Why don't you paint the hood in the fancy color of your strap? Then the stain would be no pain! In addition you could mount an external viewfinder painted in the same color. If then you would wear a hat in the same color......
Manoleica Posted August 5, 2015 Share #11 Posted August 5, 2015 I use the same strap/color on my Safari..
jaapv Posted August 5, 2015 Share #12 Posted August 5, 2015 Nothing wrong with the strap colour if you like it. If the flaw in the finish of the lens hood bothers you ask your dealer to replace it. It shouldn't be there.
erl Posted August 5, 2015 Share #13 Posted August 5, 2015 A simple alternative may be to mount the hood upsidedown, assuming the mount is symmetrical. At least then you would not see it, unless you travel to the opposite hemisphere!
viramati Posted August 5, 2015 Share #14 Posted August 5, 2015 Hood is threaded and can't be mounted upside-down. Would suggest you ask your dealer if he can get a replacement if it really bothers you
