Lightroom and M-E

I don't have the camera anymore so I can't confirm, but I recall that some places in the menu it even included notes about the "M9" or made reference to the "USB Port" which does not exist.  The M-E was a great camera that was confusingly executed (they could have spent an extra month or two in firmware development and made a million miles in user experience).

I expect that after the introduction of the next M, there will be a replacement M-E based on the M240 platform.  If so, it's better for LR to note the underlying platform rather than confuse M-E iterations.  But who knows with Leica when it comes to naming conventions.

I would not have thought so given its poor reception. I think its odd, the status of the M-E has held it back, in my opinion. I love mine and prefer it over the M9, aesthetically I mean. It has a very pleasing clean look. Its old technology but I am not taken in by the cost benefit of the M240.

I liked the M8.2 (still my back-up), but much prefer the M240 as a traditional RF camera, never mind LV, etc.  This has been covered elsewhere, and others have different needs preferences and opinions….as always.

Not sure what you mean by poor reception…to the M-E?  As I said, it's an M9 with minor changes, including cosmetic, with a lower entry price point.  Others who know more than I suggest that it will remain the entry camera for subsequent iterations, e.g., when the next M arrives, the M240 will get an entry level M-E cousin.  We'll see.  The name isn't the issue….the pricing and future model 'support' is.
