Pecole Posted July 28, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) These 1970 negatives (Adox Plus-X) were recently digitized, unfortunately with a low resolution. But anyhow, I was once again surprised by the remaining quality of these B&W strips. For those interested, the photos were all taken with my (then...) M4/Summicron 50 favorite combination, at a flight meeting at Beauvechain Air Force base, Belgium, in May 1970. To start with, three machines on "static" : a Sea King helicopter, a Norvegian Air Force Northrop F-5 and a Belgian Air Force Lockheed F-104. The two first "flying" images depict flights of Belgian Air Force Alouette helicopters. Pilots who know how difficult and dangerous it is to fly helicopters in close formation will appreciate. Then come two illustrations of the performance of the Italian "Frecce Tricolori", flying nine Fiat G91. The Belgian acro team is performing on Fouga Magister trainers, a photo of one of them on the ground being added. And finally, despite the poor quality of the shot, I cannot resist to add what has always been for me one of the most impressive flying performance : the very close and very low crossing, in the very center of the runway and at very high speed, of two Belgian Air Force Lockheed F-104 Starfighters.
