Advertisement Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Hi ShivaYash, Take a look here LCD protectors? Recommendations sought. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ayewing Posted July 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) Well if the M-E has the same LCD screen as the M9 I would recommend using a screen protector. I never used to bother with them when I used digital DSLRs which seemed to have tough screens. However when I bought a new M9 it acquired a small scratch from I think a button on my jacket so I promptly got a protector. The ACMAXX seems to be pretty good and as it is made of polycarbonate is unlikely to shatter on impact like glass. ShivaYash Posted July 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted July 27, 2015 Thanks, any idea what size would be best? An Amazon UK link would save me a lot of searching and potentially getting the wrong one. Ta.
jdlaing Posted July 27, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2015 Check,Amazon for a border less tempered glass protector. They used to go under the name Pavoscreen but now may be possibly under another name. I use them and they are great.
ayewing Posted July 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 27, 2015 Thanks, any idea what size would be best? An Amazon UK link would save me a lot of searching and potentially getting the wrong one. IAmazon UK does not list them. The local stockist is Red Dot Cameras 68 Old Street, London, EC1V 9AN. They are also available on eBay from USA suppliers. If you asked Red Dot Cameras they would supply the right size if you tell them it is for a Leica M-E as they are a specialist Leica Dealer. fiftyonepointsix Posted July 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) I use Giotto SP8250 with my M8 and M9, it is Schott glass- multicoated. Coming up on 5 1/2 years on the M8, 4 1/2 on the M9- held up nicely. Edited July 27, 2015 by fiftyonepointsix

DandA Posted July 28, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 28, 2015 That link to screen Leica screen protectors is for the Q and M240 type bodies...not M9! Besides, I was not impressed with the product. I agree though with the Giottos. Great product, especially for the price. Dave (D&A)
Jeff S Posted July 28, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 28, 2015 I don't use or like or need any of them. Simple. Jeff
ShivaYash Posted July 28, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted July 28, 2015 Thanks, will settle with ACMAXX for the time being and see how it goes.
250swb Posted July 29, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 29, 2015 The best product for the price is a cut down iPhone screen protector. True it is a cheap bit of plastic, but it's not going to break. Steve
asiafish Posted July 29, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) I use Giotto SP8250 with my M8 and M9, it is Schott glass- multicoated. Coming up on 5 1/2 years on the M8, 4 1/2 on the M9- held up nicely. Ditto. I have on my M-E and its great, and have the larger ones on my X113 and X Vario. My X113 took a nice hit to a brick corner and put a nice crack in the screen protector, but the LCD is still perfect underneath. $30 poorer and another Giottos is on the way. I don't bother with the protector on my M Monochrom which has the sapphire glass that is much harder, but for $30 I probably should. 2wk Posted July 30, 2015 Share #16 Posted July 30, 2015 Just got the Giottos for my MM and it looks great. I feel like it improves the contrast of the screen a bit. I have a cheaper Acmaxx one on the X vario. It's good, but not the same quality glass as the Giottos.
ShivaYash Posted July 30, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted July 30, 2015 I got the Acmaxx one today from Red Dot Cameras in London. Its pretty lame... but fairly discreet and OEM looking. Would prefer a glass one in all honesty but this should last a while.
stebesplace Posted July 30, 2015 Share #18 Posted July 30, 2015 I picked this up before heading to the desert a couple months ago and it works great! Was a hassle to install though, since it was dusty where I was, but after a few tries, it went on and has worked great ever since. Shows finger and cheek oils, so I have to keep it cleaned up as much as possible. Otherwise it's good.
