I WANT to use a yellow filter and i think i NEED to use a lens hood against flare on my 35 3.5 Summaron (LTM). Is it possible to use a filter and the FOOKH lens hood together? My alternativ is to mount a SOOGZ adapter on the lens and then use a 39mm filter and some kind of screw on lens hood. How deep/long are the FOOKH hood?

Yes : I understand that your LTM Summaron is the A36 version : in this case, if you use the standard Leitz A36 clamp-screw filters, you can mount onto them the FOOKH ; is a standard configuration : all the Leitz A36 filters had a mount shaped to accomodate a hood onto them :

A36 filters are very easy to find on ebay and dealers... I have a whole set of them... :) , and the FOOKH too isn't difficult to find (the silver is much more common than the black one, I think)  : it is about 18mm long, if I remember correctly...

Well... FISON was made for Elmar 50 so in theory it ought to vignette when mounted on a 35... but it does not... I have just made a quick trial with my Summaron A36 with FISON onto, on M240... ;) : no vignetting at all... BUT... after that, I mounted a filter on the Summaron, the FiSON onto the filter, took a shot and.. ZAP !! vignetting in the corners... ;)

Hi again Luigi and thank you so much for you help!! Yes it is a nice portrait:):)

I have some E39 filters already so i think i will go for another solution but it is not 100% Leica... I think i will buy a SOOGZ (silver) and mount one of my E39 filter and then on top of that mount a 15mm deep 39mm screw mount Heliopan lens hood (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/800619-REG/Heliopan_72019H_39_mm_Metal_Lens.html) (there is also 8mm deep Heliopan hood, just in case..). Hopefully i will be able to post my portrait in a couple of weeks:)

Soogz are like hens teeth to find and usually go for silly money unfortunately, I looked for a long while to get one to put 39mm filters on my Summaron and Elmars.

A set of A36 filters will probably cost a lot less!

Luckily I have one... B) at "M8 - UVIR" times was very useful : now it stays unused... I think that I could renounce to it if some friend here NEEDS it and doesn't find one .. PM me in case...

Excellent info. Thanks for posting it! Chris

here's my solution - gone via the SOOGZ path (luckily I found it for a very cheap/reasonable price)

The filter screws into the SOOGZ which then attaches over the lens. Quite a number of hoods will fit over & into the SOOGZ groove
