Billingham: Customer service

For five days i've been trying to get hold on Billingham's customer service, but without any luck yet.

I've tried to send email via Gmail, Outlook and trying to reach them on Twitter as well as sending a message via their own website, but no response yet, what so ever.

Can anyone in this forum tell me, whether the company still exists, since it seems impossible to reach them, even i've made several attempts?

If you see someone from the company, or bump into someone from Billingham, could you please tell them, that a customer is looking for them, since it is a complete Mission Impossible for me, after using several hours the last five days just trying. This just can't be right, i almost refuse to believe it.

Their website is rather sluggish as well. Have been doing four attempts to buy on their website (since i can't reach them), but the system will not accept my telephone number (which is to be used for confirmation). Their website complains about there is a missing number, but since our country have one digit less, than the system expect, it's impossible to place and complete an order, because the phone number can't be confirmed.

Besides that their website is extremly slow, and it takes 10-15 minutes just to try to place an order, which will not go through in the end anyway, so no luck there either.

Yes, maybe i'm a bit mad at the moment, but i must say, i've never in my whole life experienced such a bad service from a company in the whole world - not even close enough, i must admit.

How in the world do they think they can get new customers, since it's so f****** impossible to both reach them, and also to place an order online, which is totally impossible from my country?

You haven't tried phoning them?

No, because that is an extra service at my phone company (to call UK), that takes a week or so to activate, i was being told at my phone company, since it's vacation time at the moment.

On the other hand it should not be necessary to call them, since i already have tried every possible way i can to reach them on the web. On the other hand, if they do not respond to messages - via email, their own website and also on Twitter - then they should simply remove that option, if it's impossible to reach them that way.

Hi Bjarni,

What country are you located in? From the Netherlands their website is fast and responsive, but I would never consider buying directly from their site, instead preferring to buy from one of their many online retailers, often at a lower price.

That of course is no reason for them not to answer emails, but it is worth remembering that it is the beginning of the holiday season and they may be running with a reduced staff.

I'm located in Fareo Islands. I have already tried to order it online on other sites/shops, but Faroe Islands is a small country, and therefore Faroe Islands isn't on the list of countries where they can ship to.

Yes, some american sites can send it to me, but for me it just makes no sense whatsoever ordering it from USA, since the shipping cost is twice as expensive as it should be, since the bag and accessory has to be sent from so far away making the shipping cost expensive.

You are saying that their site is fast and responsive. Have you really tried to put some items in the basket? Alone putting an item in the basket makes the site go bananas and it takes two minutes until the basket is updated. Then you can reckon what happens when i'm trying to buy five items, and after that checking out, which although can't be completed.

Since they do not have information regarding it's the beginning of the holiday, and things can take a little longer, nor do they have auto answer on their email, i don't accept that as an "excuse" - sorry.

Sorry, but my first hand impression of the company isn't good. I'm not being negative here, just plain and simple disapointed from a customers point of view - that's all.

Billingham's site is very responsive from here in Midwest USA.

I suspect there is an infrastructure issue on your island.

Have you tried to put something in the basket? Still responsive?

No, there is nothing wrong with the internet infrastructure here, i have tested my connection. Besides that i have also tried via proxy connection, and the result is - unfortunately - the same.

Can you not order from Denmark?

Yes, and no. I can order, and have already been in contact with the three shops in the country that are selling Billingham, but at some shop they do not sell the specific bag, at others it is not in stock, while the third dealer can not get the specific bag from Billingham, because some business agreement says that the shop just can sell some few items from Billingham, the dealer told me.

Trust me, i have tried everything i can, and more than that.

Website seems ok here.

If you have a smartphone why not install Skype or Truphone? International calls over IP, and cheaper than a 'normal' phone call too.

Sorry, but i'm not stupid, not to be offensive.

I am already using Skype (and other programs as well) but Billingham doesn't say anything about the option to call them with Skype on the website, and since they don't answer my emails it's no use in emailing them to get their Skype name, since they haven't  answered my other emails so far.

On the other hand, if the company would prefer that customers should call them with Skype (or other IP telephony options) i would say it should be information that was available on their website, which it isn't.

About two years ago I contacted Billingham per mail because of a little special wish. Got no answer. I repeated the mail twice. Never got an answer.

Elmar

Well, that sounds familiar to me. At least that's my experience with Billingham so far.

I think you're getting 'Skype' confused with 'IP telephony'. The feature stunsworth is referring to is SkypeOut or Skype Credit where you can load credit on your Skype account to make phone calls to 'normal' telephone numbers. If you need to wait a week to enable your phone to dial internationally, then using a service like SkypeOut seems the perfect solution for you.

Sorry, but i have no credit card attached to my Skype account, and have intentions doing so either, just because a company - i was planning to buy from - isn't interested in answering my emails and messages on Twitter and on their own website.

This a rather sad story of indifferent global service. There are many alternative bags according to many threads on this forum. Why not give serious thought to sourcing a good well-recommended alternative brand?

If you really want to contact Billingham, putting some credit into a Skpe account seems like very little hassle compared to the frustration you are clearly sharing right now.

Alternatively, as WDA says, just buy a different bag. There are hundreds of good ones out there.

It's Billingham's loss.
