I made a huge mistake today with my M7

During a very exciting shoot today, I completely forgot to rewind my film and I remove the bottom plate. Am I safe in assuming all of the pictures are gone forever?

Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice. I've been shooting film on and off for since 2007 and this was a first for me.

Yes, depending upon the ambient light and how quickly you put the base plate back on, it is unlikely you have ruined the entire roll. There can't be many Leica users who haven't made this mistake at least once.

I too made a big mistake to-day - after the recent M-P Typ240 FW update I didn't check every setting on my Safari''  -- able to save quite a few, thanks to PP...

I blasphemed (^#$*&>>?) - wifey smiled & said, don't look at me, you're the photographer...

Not to drift my own thread, but I must ask. How do you like the Safari?  I love the color combo along with the brown leather strap.

I made the same mistake twice. First time, it was Tri-X and I lost 9 photographs out of 37, basically the ones at the very end of the film. Second time it was Rollei Infrared, and I lost the entire film.

Yes. In my experience (and sooner or later most of us have this experience), some pictures had evidence of the gaffe, but 3/4 of them were completely fine.

The Safari is excellent, most shortcomings are down to user error.

Overall a fabulous camera & fabulous results.

I don't use the Leica strap. If you look closely at my avatar you can see the current strap.

(Very comfortable and the red goes well with the overall idiom of the Safari..)

Well, I just picked up my film.  You were all correct.  I only lost 4 pictures from the roll.  I was so happy and relieved.  I had recreated two of the last pictures to be safe, so in reality I only lost 2 images total.  I have attached the worst image from the exposed roll for you all to see.
