Macro mode aperture only f2.8?

Recommended Posts

Yes, most would. Depth of fields becomes less the closer you focus; consequently most people shoot min. f8 or smaller in macro mode and (real) macro lenses would close down to f32 rather than the usual f16 or f22.

I would say that in the DSLR area nobody talks about the lens stopping down at close ranges, because you need to be into macro photography to want to buy a dedicated macro lens (and consequently, you'd now about these things). The Q comes with macro mode "for free" and a lot more folks are scratching their heads about the lens stopping down a nudge.
