iLikeLeica Posted July 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All - anyone ever experienced one of the curtain elements to be 'loose'. I just had it happen to me hetween two shots - one the elements sort of 'hangs' with only 1 side attached - clearly not good at all. Everything else still seems to work fine and i dont' think it is that loose that it either hit lens or sensor... Any idea in terms of complexity of repair? thanks S

jaapv Posted July 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2015 Clearly new shutter - that means a complete dismantling of the camera. This type of shutter failures have happened before. The cause is usually hard to determine. It might even have been a piece of grit between the blades. Send the camera to Leica. As to the price, I can only say that Leica can be very good at supporting their customers in this kind ofcase. The shutter unit itself costs less than 200 $ as far a I am aware, the costs are in the dismantling and rebuilding.
