Michael Hiles Posted July 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2015 Beautiful scene. However, maybe my glasses need cleaning, but where is the castle?
pop Posted July 2, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2015 The castle is, for once, not hidden in the fog. If you don't see it, you don't see the whole picture. Click anywhere on the picture and the complete picture will be revealed.

alun Posted July 6, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Two or three times, many years ago -- in fact, around 1968/69/70 -- I camped for days in a clearing on that hilltop opposite the castle. That was the view we looked out on every morning as we crawled out of the tent. As I remember it, there was a little used country road running behind the hilltop and a relatively shallow path ran up to the clearing from the road (from the front, as you can see, the hilltop was fairly inaccessible). I don't recall that we were ever reprimanded for camping there and no one troubled us. Indeed, apart from the occasions when we walked over to the castle itself, we never really saw anyone. Could you do that now, I wonder?
ns_ng Posted July 7, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted July 7, 2015 Two or three times, many years ago -- in fact, around 1968/69/70 -- I camped for days in a clearing on that hilltop opposite the castle. Could you do that now, I wonder? When I was there, the car park just further down the road was packed. On the other side of the castle, there were many tourist buses. The place was very busy. I wanted to have a direct head on shot of the castle, but the number of tourists going in and out of the place made it quite difficult. The location of the castle in relation to the loch makes this a beautiful setting. I believe this castle was featured in the Highlander and one of the Bond movies. I think this has become a major tourist attractions in this region. I guess you will have to be there early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowd.
