AHAB Posted July 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I just try to figure out if there are any pictures in the web showing pictures of the sensor which has the problem. I searched for a while but the only pictures I find are pictures taken with that sensor ..... not of this sensor. I just found some marks on my M9 camera sensor which I shot with a microscope and I cropped the pictures. I would like to know if these structures which look the same all over are in correlation to the known corrosion problem. Any comments welcome What is it .... and is it likely to be corrosion as it is the same pattern. Thanks AHAB Welcome, dear visitor! fjheimann Posted July 3, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Captain Ahab, as much as I understand there is an unlimited guarantee on this sensor. The new one ist not yet ready, only Leica knows what will happen. They say that they still change against the old sensor. Maybe it is better to wait until the new stuff is ready for use, Greetings Franz :-)
AHAB Posted July 4, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted July 4, 2015 Hello Franz, this is my idea as I will not send the camera in before September anyway ;-) Had a short telefone call with Wetzlar Headquaters and they will wait for my camera whenever I send it. Doc Henry Posted July 5, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 5, 2015 (edited) Hello Franz, this is my idea as I will not send the camera in before September anyway ;-) Had a short telefone call with Wetzlar Headquaters and they will wait for my camera whenever I send it. Regards Andreas Andreas, from what I read, Leica does not recommend to clean the sensor yourself with liquid. Since I changed the sensor I clean with air dust, and I no longer clean with Eclipse ... and I stop to get me trouble with the sensor by using less often my 2M digital, now I photograph with my 2 analog M as the color images or b&w is more beautiful http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/page-279 It's a shame to wait until September to start shooting Best Henry Edited July 5, 2015 by Doc Henry
jaapv Posted July 6, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 6, 2015 That non-cleaning letter was retracted. Which does not mean that one should drown the sensor in liquid. Just a mild moistening is the way to do it.
AHAB Posted July 6, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted July 6, 2015 Doc HenryI never ever clean this Sensor with liquidI have a dental scope in my office under which cleaning with dry air is fun and relyable ;-)https://verbesserungen.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/dokumentation-am-dentalmikroskop-2014-documentation-on-the-dental-scope-2014/#jp-carousel-5392so I can check in 25x magnification what is going on on the sensor ;-)I think the marks shown in my pictures are the only pictures of the sensor with corrosion in the www. But anyway thanks for the advice in cleaning - my M6 and film is sleeping and I am not sure if I ever will shoot film againregardsAHAB
jaapv Posted July 6, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 6, 2015 Yes - the same here. An surgical/dental microscope is an ideal tool in sensor cleaning, I like to use it as well. I think the late William Palank was the first on the Forum to do so.

Ellie Posted July 6, 2015 Share #14 Posted July 6, 2015 I have access to this microscope but I have just used it for checking lenses. And also used the strong lights to do some macro photo with M9/Visoflex III, here's one: Barnack's Monthly for April 2015 is: "RED". Welcome, dear visitor!
