The explorer, mountaineer, sailor and author H W Tilman actually lived in North Wales along the Mawddach Estuary, and for a long time there has been a slate plaque to commemorate this. When I stopped there yesterday there was another plaque to commemorate other exploits. The camera was used merely as a notebook and light was what it was, but the inscriptions might be of interest to some.
