Bracket for tripod

Since the Leicas have the thread for the tripod mounting on a side, I wonder if there's an adapter, anyways a bracket to mount the camera centered on the tripod.

Or, in case, should have being made by scratch? It's something easy to do, just wonder if there's something original for the case.

I have owned one of these for a very long time:

It was bought for and used with my M3, but I see mo reason why it shouldn't work with a screw mount body, I'll try it when I get home.

I have used it with a Nikon FM2 as well

Thank you Gerry, but I think that's unuseful in the sense that it's attached to the tripod on one side, not in the center.

I have the plate for the IIIf, I just want to find a way to attach it to the tripod in the center.

Leo, the CTOOM, the flash bracket has centered threads and can be used with the IIIf

it is relatively cheap on the bay

There is a rather nice near-mint one for sale at The Leica Shop.

The picture is misleading, it has sockets in both base and end for landscape and vertical.

Thanks alot. That's a good one but it would be wasted since the part for attaching the flash would not be used. It would also be possible to get it and detach that part but would it worth it? I'm seeing if I can make one dedicated part for it, so to let it attached to the baseplate also when loading or downloading film is needed.

I made one from a piece of 1/8 thick aluminum plate. 6"wx2-3/16d  camera sits to front of plate and is attached via tripod mounting hole, with a 1/4 20 bolt and wing nut arrangement.

behind camera is tripod to plate threaded and tapped hole, on the lens axis. Used some cork/rubber gasket material for traction on plate where camera sits. As it is a work in progress it still needs refinement, but makes me feel more secure about using the camera on a tripod instead of hanging off the one side.

P.S. You can make a lot of these for the price of the "real deal" and gives you an excuse for some tools and garage time

This is the one I use most often on my RF bodies (I use a different version on my M body), I also added a piece of griptac to the grip. You can order new ones, but I found this one on Ebay pretty inexpensively.   Long ago made a center hole tripod attachment to fit the base of the Barnack bodies by hollowing out a piece of aluminum and grooved it longitudinally for use in an ARCA Swiss clamp. but it is heavier than the one shown.

F150, I was making something like that. I went to the smith with my project to see if he could build it, though I'm still waiting for his call...

In the meantime I've got the plastic CTOOM, so maybe I can modify it without having a great loss.

Well, in the end I went to a smith with my little drawing. It was a nice bracket. They said they were going to see how much might have it costed and... I'm still waiting. As always. Maybe they don't need to work...

Anwyays I'll get a plastic ctoom on the evil bay. I could modify it as per my needs but I'll try to keep it original. The only problem is the seller didn't point out it has the smaller thread and I had to get an adapter.
