Well, seeing that no one else has ventured anything more scientific, can I offer a lens designed for Digital Cameras?!     It was after all fairly early in digital camera development when film cameras were in use much more than they are today.

Dave's guess seems correct to me as well.

 

I think that's the only case where Leica used DC to designate a lens. Since it's a one-shot deal (AFAIK), it seems they later decided it didn't need saying.
