I, for one, would really like to have a .58 viewfinder with black paint and saddle leather in the Leica M-A. gberger Posted June 11, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 11, 2015 I'd just like to have a M-A with a .85 viewfinder.
FrozenInTime Posted June 11, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 11, 2015 (edited) I'd just like to have a M-A with a .85 viewfinder. If they do this, I would trade in my M6 x0.72 and x0.85 to get one. No a la carte price lift - just make x0.58, x0.72 and x0.85 standard offerings. Edited June 11, 2015 by FrozenInTime

They seem to accept most 'unusual' requests - for a price of course!
wattsy Posted June 12, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 12, 2015 They seem to accept most 'unusual' requests - for a price of course! I've asked (for something non-standard but not-outlandish either) on more than one occasion and have been given an unequivocal "nein" each time. It is probably easier to get what you want if you are part of the in-crowd or one of the company's favoured sons but I have been told that they will no longer do things for the average punter like the silver Monochrom they made for a few forum members in 2012. Apparently, something to do with custom requests not being easy to run through the company's SAP ordering system.
wattsy Posted June 12, 2015 Share #9 Posted June 12, 2015 It's trivial, I know. I, for one, would really like to have a .58 viewfinder with black paint and saddle leather in the Leica M-A. Call me crazy. There have been rumours floating around that the M-A would be incorporated in the à la carte programme but I suspect it won't happen. I know that, being a Leica fanboy at heart, I'd probably find the pennies for an M-A à la carte. An M-A in black paint with M7 style rewind would be the perfect 'personal-use' camera for me (I know that I can probably pick up a better made near mint black paint M4 for the same kind of money but there is something, at least for me, about owning a camera like this from new). Matlock Posted June 12, 2015 Share #10 Posted June 12, 2015 The viewfinder options are what I would go for. I am not a great lover of black paint (although I can see the attraction).

Yes, it is certainly true that the viewfinder magnification options would enhance the camera in a practical way for many potential buyers. coelacanth Posted June 12, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 12, 2015 BP, x0.85, classic logo, MP/M3 style crank, vulcanite covering. I'd buy that.
chris_livsey Posted June 13, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) It's an M2 clone so why doesn't it have the 35/50/90 frames ONLY. That's my wish. Just gone to vote all these replies and THREE votes, come on do the right thing!! (Four with mine) Edited June 13, 2015 by chris_livsey
gberger Posted June 13, 2015 Share #14 Posted June 13, 2015 My MP .85 has the 35, 50, 90 frame lines. It was an option, so it CAN be done - - - if they want to do so.

Whilst I wouldn't want to deny you your wish Chris, it's worth pointing out that, unlike the MP (and M6/7, etc.) the M-A framelines for 135 and 75 are almost non-existent so you already get a kind of 28/90, 35 and 50 set-up.
