5.50am, the light woke me up and I grabbed the camera for a shot of an incredibly still dawn with the warm light spilling over the view. Absolute silence, bar some birdsong, with the hotel window open. Fabulous.

Gorgeous!  Where was this?

The Islander's Rest, Sherkin Island, County Cork, Ireland. Not sure I should say really, as its still a relatively undiscovered but stunningly beautiful part of the world. I've known the owner for over 30 years and its well worth a visit if you want to really get away from it all. I was there recently for the 40th anniversary of the owner's father's marine station where I used to work. A quite extraordinary place.

[i'm currently revamping my website but it will have several pages on it about Sherkin Island when finished. I'll try to put a link to some of the images when its live.]
