A small forest....

Wandering about yesterday in a very large and very old garden (sadly gone completely to seed) I found this small forest of deciduous suckers.

What species of tree they are I don't know...the trees on the left of frame are English elms.

a very nice frame. It is not easy to find symmetries in a jungle. Here one has to 2 options to follow either this or the other eerie pathway.

Nicely composed to make some visual sense of 'cant see the wood for the tree's' :-)

 

We have a few english elms around here, but they only grow to about 18ft (that is the height the beetle flies at apparently) in height before they get blitzed by the beetle and die.

I think we need to start a new category for this, perhaps called, "Enchanted." You found a beautiful spot and made a beautiful photograph of it.

Ali...that's very interesting about the beetle, I guess it hasn't made it to Australia as our elms don't seem to have any height restrictions.

Not sure what type of tree these are. Nice they grow so close together like aspens. They make good habitat for the local wildlife.

Bill, thanks...I thought a possibility might be aspens, as they are leafless now I'll have to wait for spring to do a leaf identification.

 

Ali, sad to think of multitudes of those little beetles running dry and ditching in the ocean.....
