luigi bertolotti Posted May 11, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Welcome to the Forum !!! Most probably, it's a Russian copy of a Leica II / model D, with finishings that mimic the well known Leica I "Luxus" : not a rare item, Russians made thousands of such items. More difficult it is an original Leitz body repainted and re-covered : several mechanical details in the top do suggest it's a copy from the Soviet factories (FED/Kransogorsk) which did made those Leica copies, usually with "normal" finishings. 250swb Posted May 12, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2015 It's the snake I feel sorry for, but I could laugh at these Russian fakes all day (unless I have something better to do). Steve
Pecole Posted May 12, 2015 Share #7 Posted May 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, my name is Ernest, can anyone help me with this camera? Any reference will be nice for me. Sorry to trouble you, regards ! Ernest. I saw one very similar - except that the "snake" covering was green (!) - sold last year in Brasil for the equivalent of 130 euros. If I had had the occasion, I'd have bought it, just for the fun...

duckrider Posted May 19, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) may I link for Your enjoyment and enlightment a genuine one? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2502752/Last-surviving-gold-plated-Leica-Luxus-II-camera-sell-1-7million.html have a look at the front window and it's step on the right side (front view) and the release button and ring around, with this knowledge You'll recognise most of Russian fakes. Different type of engraving at serialnumber and lens are one more easy to realise fakes. Thomas Edited May 19, 2015 by duckrider
