Homage to John Ford

I call this -- no doubt, pretentiously, "Homage to John Ford."  It was taken recently, in Monument Valley, Utah, with the Monochrom-M and 35mm Summilux FLE.

I really like this. If you don't mind a suggestion; perhaps the little sign should go....?

Maybe that's the hitchin'post for the amigos horse, or it may be the official Tribute To John Ford!

Actually, I think 'he' would appreciate the quality that his favourite scenario is depicted with here.

I certainly would love to shoot there.

Thank you for your kind and helpful comments.  I have tried a version of this image without the post.  It felt a bit dishonest doing it.  It's absence doesn't seem to significantly effect the flow of the composition, so I think I will not erase the post in the final image.  Thanks for the suggestion.

The photo took some patience.  The cowboy (a Navaho) was on the top left ledge with a young woman in a T-shirt.  She detracted from the picture.  I waited for her to walk off.  The cowboy then came riding down fast.  I could get only 2 photos of the ride.  This is the better of the two.

Yes, Monument Valley is a special place.  Once I was on Muley Point in Arizona, overlooking Monument Valley.  A storm moved in below me -- I was above the dark clouds!  It rained only on Monument Valley.  It was sunny every where else.  The rain stopped suddenly and the clouds disappeared.  I caught the picture of the isolated storm just in time!  (That photo was not with a Leica -- rather an old, slow view camera, so I won't post here.)
