Dougg Posted May 6, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone else taking advantage of the ~12% Leica price reductions for May? Maybe they'll go down further in June? I just ordered the 100mm Summicron-S, which I've been wanting since last Fall. A good opportunity, I thought. In preparatory testing to see if I really wanted to spend the nece$$ary, over the winter I used my Pentax67 lenses of about the same focal length, the 90, 100 Macro, and good ol' 105, on the S2. Yes, I decided this was a useful focal length for me, and that remembering to use the manual diaphragm control fails often enough to make interesting mistakes. Looking forward to f/2, AF, and auto-diaphragm! But, y'know, those Pentax lenses are pretty nice too. Are you enjoying the discount too?Doug Edited May 6, 2015 by Dougg

dritz Posted May 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2015 I just ordered my 100 Summicron-S as well. I think we'll need to gang up on Flickr and get some images up there.
dritz Posted June 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2015 I just ordered my 100 Summicron-S as well. I think we'll need to gang up on Flickr and get some images up there. I just got it. Here are two f2.0 images. First, a link to a Google folder containing the DNG file for each. Then the jpegs. The jpegs aren't worth looking at. Look at the DNG files. Pixel peeping encouraged. The poppy provides an example with both foreground and background blur, and sharpness (in the center). The rope provides an example of background blur, the representation of metal, and chromatic aberration. Really, just rushed out for a brief walk to grab. DNG files Welcome, dear visitor!
