The "Thanks" button and the link to Facebook

I generally like the new forum look, and the software seems stable enough on the various platforms I access the forum from. The rather pale look does take some getting used to - I find the UI elements a bit to indistinct for my taste but that's just my view. RFF, however, offers the possibility of changing "skins" on the forum which I like a lot. Would be great to have.

I'm also very pleased that the "Like" button was removed, though I think the "Unlike" button should be turned into the old "Remove thanks" or whatever it said earlier. I may be a bit picky but in English "Unlike" doesn't mean what the button suggests it does (at least that's what I was taught in school).

Anyway, what I wanted to know is the following. In the forum's Privacy statement there's the following text:

Even if you are not logged in or don't have a Facebook account, your browser sends information (e.g. which web pages you have called up, your IP address) which is then stored by Facebook.

What I am wondering is what information will Facebook store about me, who does not have an account there - does anyone know? The above seems to suggest that the information will be "IP address so and so called up page X". Would that be right?

Thanks in advance

Philip

I can answer all three questions (if I counted correctly):

- More and better skins will come - the Leica Forum Dark style is „work in progress“ and will be optimised.

- I'll change „unlike“ to „remove thanks“ - forgot this when I changed the „like this“ wording

- Right now Facebook is not storing anything about you if you are not logged in at Facebook. The paragraph in the privacy statement was copied from another state of the development.

I'm still confused…unlike this thread where if one clicks on the 'thanks' button the resultant note says "xxx said thank you"…in other recent threads, although the button now says "thanks", the resultant note says "xxx likes this".

Does it really matter? Seriously?

I expect that posts that started out with a Like button, have the "Like" text. Since the button was changed to "Thanks", expect that the text now says thanks.

Look again. "Old" threads now contain the same wording for that function as the more recent ones, i.e. "Thanks", "remove thanks", "said thank you". You just remember them saying something else because they did when you first saw them.

Thank you very much for the quick and informative replies, and esp. to Andreas for explaining about Facebook and changing the button's text (and thank you also for your tireless work to keep this forum running so well).

Btw, I like the dark theme a lot. Thanks for pointing me to that option, Andy.

All the best

Nope, think I just figured it out.   If one person responds, it says that person "likes this", but if multiple people respond it says they "said thank you".  Even, as we speak, to your post just above (that is until someone other than Phillpus adds a thanks!).

No big deal, but it does solve a mystery for me.

Indeed, there seem to be several places in the software where this text is added. When I  am the only person who thanked a post, it says "You said thank you" for me, "pop likes this" for anyone else.

Even while I was writing this post, Andreas fixed the issue. Thanks, Andreas.
