Where are the Summarit 2.4 reviews

I know the 50 summarit is a great little lens, and the new version is just the same. So... if you were already thinking about getting one. The new ones only got better... Except maybe the E46 filter size compared to E39.

But I've got no more E39 lenses so it would be fine for me.

I've just bought a 75 Summarit 2.4 and first impressions are excellent.  Very easy to focus, light, compact and the mount, aperture rings and focus feel rock-solid. I'm not a review writer, but I'll try to put together some thoughts on this in the next couple of weeks as there are some jobs I have to do that were the main reason for getting it.

I think the new Summarits are still in short supply.  I ordered a 75mm 2.4 back in January; still waiting for it and no indication of a delivery date.

Maybe Leica hasn't made enough of them yet to supply samples to reviewers?

My understanding is that optically they are identical with their worthy forebears. Plenty has been written about the first generation. I have the 75mm f/2.5 and it is an excellent lens in every way. I wish it had a leather case like the newer version; but that does not impair its operation or performance. I saw the relaunch as essentially a marketing exercise with minimal changes apart from appearance and minuscule change to opening aperture. Certainly hardly enough to warrant a new test report.

In his review of the 2.5 lens's Erwin Puts stated the aperture was nearer 2.4, so maybe Lieca have just acknowledged this with no optical changes at all.

I too heard they were the same as the old ones and since the old ones were (are) so good, no new reviews are required.  I've owned and loved the 35/2.5 for a few years now and still see no reason other than speed to consider anything else, and even then, I usually prefer 50mm in low light settings where I tend more to people than places and like to get in tight.  This is probably why I own four different 50mm lenses and use each of them, but the 35 Summarit remains my one and only 35, and single most used lens.

What I have heard are two things:

1 - Regarding the original f/2.5 versions, the evaluation I got from a Magnum photographer during a workshop I attended was that they are optically excellent, worthy of wearing the red dot but they are not as sturdy as the Summicrons and Summiluxes.

2 - I read somewhere online that the new f2.4 Summarits have been built to tighter tolerances than their predecessors.

Perhaps now the Summarits are offering the best of both worlds (optics and sturdiness).

I would like to get a definitive answer on this, as I am looking at getting either a 50mm Summarit f/2.4 or a 50mm Summicron; I am wondering if the $350-400 extra cost of the Summicron is money well spent, as the .4 increase in maximum aperture is not much of an issue (for me, anyway).  I am looking for a light and fast 50 to go with my 35mm Summicron for those times when I don't want to carry a 50 that is as heavy as my f/1.0 Noctilux; when you don't specifically need f/1, why carry the extra weight?

The Summarits I have handled are more sturdy than my SEM 21 and 28 Cron, which will both let loose of front groups, unless handled carefully over time.

I don't have any lens better built than my 90/2.5, no kidding and that includes many M lenses and Zeiss.

"So that is all I have for now on these fantastic new lenses from Leica. ALL are stunning in their build, performance, styling and included accessories (Hood, caps, leather case, etc). The Summarits are now better than ever and are in no way handicapped by the more expensive line besides being a tad slower at f/2.4 vs f/2 or f/1.4."
