andybarton Posted April 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have searched the forum but can't find anything, so please forgive this request for ancient news. I have three M lenses. One is 6-bit coded and my 24mm Elmarit-M takes a standard 6 screw replacement. I have found one from HK on ebay. However, my 50mm has a different screw pattern and I can't find a replacement codeable mount anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted April 25, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted April 25, 2015 Thanks. That's where the other mount is coming from. This is an unusual mount. I don't know how many other lenses use it.
jaapv Posted April 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 25, 2015 Why don’t you have the original mount coded by for instance Will van Manen?
lct Posted April 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 25, 2015 Hi Andy, If your 50 is a Summicron 11817, it can be updated by Leica AFAIK. Otherwise, 5-holes flanges ar not easy to find out i've been told. Amazon invites clients to contact them in advance here: http://tinyurl.com/k2bbqy7. Beware that the M240 does not like much replacement mounts though and the latters don't have recessed parts for focussing generally. I would check if your original mount has such a recessed part to be sure. Welcome, dear visitor! bocaburger Posted April 26, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 26, 2015 I don't bother with coding on lenses longer than 35mm, but my pre-ASPH 21mm has that type of flange. I hand-cut dimples for the black coding and filled the screw head with flat white enamel. Works like a charm.

The one on the 1973 50mm doesn't have the groove that your example on the left shows. I only want to code the 50 for EXIF purposes, as I know that the vignette adjustments in-camera are only really needed for wider than 35s.
andybarton Posted April 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted April 26, 2015 Perhaps it's an excuse to save up for a new lens Or code the 1963 version that I have that does have six screws...
gvaliquette Posted April 28, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 28, 2015 My problem with non-coded lenses is that I identify them manually in the menu, and then change the lens for a coded lens and forget to reset the menu to "auto". My Tele-Elmarit 90mm is not coded, but my Elmar-M 24mm is. So I shoot with the Elmar-M and the camera thinks that I still have the Tele-Elmarit. Drives me crazy! TomB_tx Posted April 28, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 28, 2015 I've never found a replacement flange that actually fits my '69 11817, but the coding I put on with the M-coder still works fine, even though one screw is in the codign area. I coded it a few years ago and it hasn't worn off.
