stunsworth Posted April 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm probably missing something obvious, but while I can see an option to edit a post, I can't see an option to delete one.
Advertisement Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here How do I delete a post?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted April 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2015 I have not tried this but : Edit then delete word by word should work on a post that has just been made.Seems a bit messy though. BrianP
stunsworth Posted April 21, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted April 21, 2015 I've tried blanking out the entire post, but then I got an error message to the effect that there was no content
andybarton Posted April 21, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2015 There's definitely an Edit and Delete link just below your posts. Might be time limited though. They are in a pale grey colour and text only.
stunsworth Posted April 21, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) I can see greyed out selections for Report and Edit, but not delete. <edit> When I originally added this post I could only see those two, so it's not a time limitation. andybarton Posted April 21, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2015 The Delete option is probably a Mod thing then. Edit: That went well
stunsworth Posted April 21, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted April 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I did wonder if only mods were able to delete posts - which doesn't seem right. Also there doesn't appear to be any 'grace period' when editing a post. Previously there was 10-15 mins where a post could be edited with the edited message appearing against it. andybarton Posted April 21, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 21, 2015 I have asked the question of Andreas. This is what I can see with my Mod Super -Vision. You can see that I have Reported the post to Andreas for his comment. Welcome, dear visitor! stunsworth Posted April 21, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted April 21, 2015 I can't see the red blob, or Hide or Delete. Looks like it's a mod thing.
pop Posted April 21, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 21, 2015 Real Users don't delete their posts. They can't. The controls to do that are absent. They see "report" and "edit". When they edit, they can not delete the post. As Andy said, Andreas will look into the matter.
LUF Admin Posted April 22, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 22, 2015 Hi, members can edit their posts for 60 minutes. AFAIR this was the same in the old forum. The old forum allowed to delete a post for 60 minutes too. This is not possible in the new forum - I can't define this permission. Alternative 1: Delete content and report post. Alternative 2: Thinks first, post second Andreas
stunsworth Posted April 22, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks Andreas. What I meant about editing was that if you edited a post immediately after adding it, the post didn't show as being edited. Regarding deletion, what I did with the post I wanted to delete was edit it, and change the text to a full stop ".". Not very elegant, but that's what I'll continue to do in the future. pop Posted April 22, 2015 Share #14 Posted April 22, 2015 I have added this to the FAQ: How can I delete my post? (new)
lct Posted April 24, 2015 Share #15 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) ................. (not very elegant indeed) Edited April 24, 2015 by lct
pop Posted April 24, 2015 Share #16 Posted April 24, 2015 ................. (not very elegant indeed) True; however, since this is exactly how it was done quite a few times in the old forum, the difference is not as large as one would first think. Oh well, a few functions gained, a few lost.
lct Posted April 24, 2015 Share #17 Posted April 24, 2015 It is the same on the Fuji forum. Not perfect and i don't like much the new thanks limitation either but i can live with that and i'm glad that instant notification works at last for me.
