Lightroom 6 due later today

Recommended Posts

I've just tried to upgrade ver. 5.7.1 (build 994254) and the only option Adobe gives me is to purchase the CC upgrade. I guess we'll have to wait a few days to see what arrangement Leica has with Adobe.

Edited to add: According to http://photorumors.com/ the upgrade price from 5 to 6 for the stand alone version is $79 However none of the upgrade links on their page work as yet.

Users who have already obtained their Lightroom serial number from Leica are not normally eligible for a free upgrade to any newer version that might later materialise. However, owners who haven't yet used their TAN are usually able to obtain a serial number for the latest version of Lightroom, usually a few weeks after the newer version is released. At least this is how it has worked in the past. (As a CC subscriber, it is a moot point for me as I get LR as part of that package and still have an unused TAN going back to 2012.)

Bob.

When you go to the Adobe website for Lightroom scroll to the bottom of the page. There is a section bottom right for purchase outright instead of Creative Cloud. In there you can, if you already own Lightroom, purchase an upgrade for $79.

Thanks jdlaing for pointing to the outright purchase link as I don't want CC, although I fear that by the next upgrade we may be forced into it.

Right now it's not showing upgrade from that link - only full outright purchase at £103.

Looks like a few days wait.

If you click on "Buy" you get a drop down where you can choose to buy an upgrade for £59 rather than the full version for £103.

I'd like to upgrade the v4.2 I got from Leica when I bought my M9-P, but I'm worried my serial number won't qualify for the 75€ update. If I'm not mistaken, student/teacher editions don't qualify, for instance.

Should anyone succesfully update their Leica LR for the discounted price I'd very much appreciate to hear it.

Often takes a week or so. I am sitting, waiting to register my M240, for just this reason.

Same thinking here. I just registered my M-E and redeemed the LR6 licence. OSX didn't want to run the download file, which it seems wasn't yet recognised as from an identified developer (?), but after a manual override, it installed on my machine without any problems.

When you click on the "Buy" button on the first page look for the little pop down menu and change the selection from full version to upgrade. The price should change.

i suspect there was such a hew and cry over CC that they decided to leave Lightroom alone.

The GPU utilization is intriguing, though I don't think it would make a huge difference with my setup. Most of the other changes (panos, HDR, etc.) I don't give a toss about, and facial recognition gives me the creeps. Might be worth the $79 upgrade just to retain a stand-alone version for the future.

I have had a chance to fiddle with it now. Other improvements are:

* The speed to import is vastly improved.

* The slider action, when making adjustments, is far smoother and less jerky/quirky than previous versions.

* If you use Creative Cloud the sharing of images and catalogs across multiple devices instantly is nice. I don't do Creative Cloud yet.

* ThemExport,speed seems quicker.
