Now, how about having a sensor "kit" like this that can be mounted into a traditional film M camera, and have the frame advance lever generate charge just enough to capture and store one image's worth. No batteries needed. No LCD screen. No Live View. No EVF. 

 

That would be something.

I vaguely remember someone did a back of an envelope calculation for this and the conclusion was that you would have to crank the winder for five minutes per picture. Batteries are your friends; unless you spend much time away from a charger.
