Advertisement Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Hi themilkman, Take a look here Best East coast USA CLA. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted March 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2015 It isn't the shipping...it is the quality of the work. Sherry Krauter at Golden touch in NY is recognized as one of the best in the USA, as is Don Goldberg at DAG Camera in Wisconsin. Others worthy of recognition I am familiar with include Gus Lazzari and Youxin Ye.
Jeff S Posted March 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 5, 2015 Note that Sherry adjusts film Ms, lacking equipment for digital M calibration. Jeff

rpsawin Posted March 5, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 5, 2015 Sherry Krauter does very good work. She did a CLA on an M2 and it was like new. She also repaired a badly damaged 50mm Summicron for me as well. I recommend her highly!
james.liam Posted March 6, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Shipping costs to DAG, Youxin or Sherry Krauter will be roughly the same. But recall that you live in NY State, so Sherry is obliged to charge sales tax and she tends to be pricier than the others for similar work. Not that she isn't worth it... Herr Barnack Posted March 6, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 6, 2015 It isn't the shipping...it is the quality of the work. Sherry Krauter at Golden touch in NY is recognized as one of the best in the USA, as is Don Goldberg at DAG Camera in Wisconsin. Others worthy of recognition I am familiar with include Gus Lazzari and Youxin Ye. +1 for Sherry. She has worked on a couple of my film M cameras; she is the only person I would allow to work on my lenses and film M cameras (for the M240, it would be Leica NJ). I do not know what DAG and others charge for their services, but I thought Sherry's costs were well within reason. Sherry is located about an hour from NYC so if you are close by to her, you could take your M to her and pick it up when it's ready, saving the cost of shipping and insurance. Testimonial from actual experience, including his work one of my own Leica bodies, has been nothing but glowing. Defend your statement with first-hand evidence. friedeye Posted April 14, 2015 Share #19 Posted April 14, 2015 A big thumbs up for Youxin Ye. I've had an M3 and M2 CLA'd by him - the M3 needed new curtains and shutter work, as well. He did a superb job on both, and is prompt and communicative.
