Pecole Posted February 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) From time to time, I like testing again old Leica lenses, like this Telyt-R 1:6.8/400mm nº 2557934, this time in macro mode. Not bad, I think ! Welcome, dear visitor! giordano Posted February 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2015 Did you use a long extension or an Elpro?
Pecole Posted February 22, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted February 22, 2015 Did you use a long extension or an Elpro? Long extension. I didn't have any Elpro at that time, and must confess I never liked using same.
costakarl Posted April 17, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 17, 2015 Excellent shots. I will now dust off my lens.
jmahto Posted April 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2015 What did you use for extension? I have this lens too but didn't know you can do macro.
fernando_b Posted April 17, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 17, 2015 I'm impressed! It lacks of chromatic aberration. On the opposite side, the images don't seem detailed enough, at least on my screen. I've that lens, but dont have the extension tubes. Fernando.

nikau Posted April 17, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Well done. Some of my best 'macro' shots have been taken with this lens and the extension tubes. It's great not only for dramatic perspectives, but for the working distance between you and the subject. Edited April 17, 2015 by nikau

fernando_b Posted May 27, 2015 Share #14 Posted May 27, 2015 I'm very impressed to what this lens (and you all) are able to do! These are shocking images taken by a two-glass-elements lens from previuos 1970. Fernando. Telyt 400/6.8 with extension tube on D700 - cropped. sfage Posted May 27, 2015 Share #15 Posted May 27, 2015 It's a strange lens. It's not a "run and gun". It simply will not allow you to do that. Of course there will be people that disagree with me but this is what I have found while using it. It is rather slow to focus, big, long and heavy but if you agree to work under its terms and conditions, it's a killer.
Shac Posted May 28, 2015 Share #16 Posted May 28, 2015 Yes it does produce some impressively sharp images closeup. I've even used it with my Sony Mirrorless bodies with decent results. When I used it more often, what I found very useful was for hiking - because it unscrews into two parts making a very small package
sfage Posted May 29, 2015 Share #17 Posted May 29, 2015 Yes. It's quite handy that way.
