Leica M6 & Summicron 50mm & Kodak BW400CN.

Temporarily ran out of Ilford XP2 so started on the first of the two Kodak equivalents, only to find that the Kodak has a totally different grain and contrast to the Ilford. Jury's out as to which I prefer, but perhaps the Ilford has the edge.

Good you prefer the ILFORD version of C41 B&W film, because Kodak discontinued the BW400CN film late 2014.

I had a few people tip me off on Flickr too. Since my recent return to film I've shot about seven reels of XP2 and am half way through my second BW400CN, a pair of which I bought back in November to see... So far I easily prefer the contrast of the XP2, as the Kodak film gives (to my eyes) way too much contrast. Like a badly adjusted b&w TV back in the day. So last week I bought a ten pack of XP2. I know my place in this universe...

I've stuck to C41 processed b&w film so far (mainly Ilford XP2) but the look and grain of a proper b&w is calling out to me. Just found out that my local lab can also process true b&w, so I'm in luck.

Why you don't try to develop your b&w film at home? I started few months ago and I'm very happy with the result.

I will in time, but right now it's hard enough to find the time to take photos! :-)

She saw my camera and asked me to make some pictures of her!

I did, over three days.

This is just one, in front of the the 'Bridge Of Sighs', Venice.

I love the intimacy of what's still a wide angled shot taken from some distance from the subject. But somehow I'm still "right there" with him. Classy.

You know, this photo has inspired to see how I may be able to replicate the look. Might be a bit hard around here, this being on a Swiss alp and all, but I'll see what I can do. Living in Telly Tubby Land has its scenic advantages, but vistas across cityscapes ain't one of them.

Leica M6 & Summicron 50mm & Ilford XP2.

Sort of a portrait of Frau Capucho. Bright, sunny and tricky light just after a rainy morning. So wondered if the shadow on wet road trick might work out. A few composition problems, as ever with me, but happy with the result.

Nice Photo Ric,

But for me road leading into the distance, and her shadow are distracting us from her.

Thanks for your compliment on my photo, once I'm on a proper computer and not my phone like now. I will give you a more detailed explanation on how I chose the composition etc.
